Chip is a Co-founder and Partner at Winding Ridge Capital, where he is responsible for sourcing, underwriting, and overseeing lower-middle-market investments in addition to overall firm management.
Prior to Winding Ridge, Chip developed substantial private equity investment and C-level operating experience during his more than 20-year tenure at Private Advisors and its successor organization, PA Capital. Chip joined Private Advisors in 2003, several years after the business was founded by his father, and helped transform the founder-owned business into an institutional alternative asset manager. He led investments in people, infrastructure and governance to support the firm's growth, including building out its leadership and investment teams, establishing formal strategic and governance processes, and developing compensation and ownership programs to align key professionals with the long-term success of the business.
In 2010, Private Advisors sold a controlling interest to New York Life Investment Management (“NYLIM”), with Chip continuing as CEO and minority owner. Over the following decade, he partnered with NYLIM to accelerate the growth of Private Advisors' private equity business, expand its investment capabilities and navigate significant industry challenges in other areas of the firm. The partnership ultimately created a larger, more durable business and positioned Private Advisors for its subsequent combination into Apogem Capital.
Throughout his tenure, Chip remained actively involved in private equity investing and served on PA Capital's Private Equity and GP Stakes Investment Committees, as well as its Board of Managers and Executive Committee. He also served on the Board of Managers of GoldPoint Partners. These roles provided Chip broad exposure to private equity firms, management teams and businesses across the U.S. lower-middle-market.
Chip's experience also gave him firsthand perspective across the lifecycle of a founder- and family-owned business—from professionalizing and scaling an independent firm, through a change in control, to partnering as a minority owner and operator with an institutional majority investor.
Before joining Private Advisors, Chip spent ten years at Jefferson Capital Partners, a boutique merchant bank focused on the healthcare, consumer and business services industries. Prior to Jefferson Capital, he was a Portfolio Manager at Wheat First Butcher Singer. Chip has worked in the financial services industry since 1990.
Chip received a B.S. degree in Finance from the University of Richmond.
Terrye is a Co-founder and Partner at Winding Ridge Capital, where she is responsible for sourcing, underwriting, and overseeing lower-middle-market investments in addition to overall firm management.
Prior to Winding Ridge, Terrye developed substantial C-level operating, corporate development and M&A experience during more than 25 years across private equity-backed, family-owned and public companies. Her experience spans financial and operational transformation, strategic planning and M&A, with particular expertise in healthcare.
Terrye served as Chief Financial Officer of two private equity-backed healthcare businesses, working closely with management teams and sponsors through periods of both rapid growth and significant operational challenge. At Clarest Health, Terrye helped transform a regional long-term-care pharmacy into a nationwide medication management platform. She built and led the corporate development function and completed multiple transformative acquisitions contributing to 350% in top line growth and expanding the company's geographic reach from six states to more than 30. She also led acquisition financing and integration initiatives and helped build the financial and strategic infrastructure required to support the company's growth.
Terrye subsequently served as Chief Financial Officer of Care Advantage, a private equity-backed provider of home-based care. Joining during a period of operational and financial challenge, she led initiatives to stabilize cash flow, strengthen financial controls, improve revenue-cycle performance and restore profitable growth. During her tenure, weekly cash collections increased by approximately 25%, and the company's EBITDA run rate improved by approximately 50%.
Earlier in her career, Terrye spent five years as Vice President of Corporate Development at Luck Companies, one of the largest family-owned aggregates businesses in the United States. She built and led corporate development, real estate and strategic planning capabilities and worked closely with the company's owners and operating leaders to expand its footprint from two states to five through a combination of business and land acquisitions.
Terrye previously spent a decade at McKesson Medical-Surgical, ultimately serving as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of its approximately $6 billion Medical-Surgical business. She held a series of increasingly senior finance and operating roles and developed extensive M&A experience, including leading finance and accounting diligence on more than $2 billion of acquisitions and helping lead the integration of a transformative combination that generated more than $100 million of synergies.
Across these roles, Terrye has developed a perspective particularly relevant to Winding Ridge's partnership with founder- and family-owned businesses—combining rigorous financial analysis with an understanding of the people, culture and operating realities behind the numbers. Her experience includes helping businesses execute growth opportunities, strengthening finance and performance-management capabilities, and working alongside management teams through periods of both growth and operational challenge.
Terrye began her career with Ernst & Young and subsequently held finance roles with America Online and General Electric Financial Assurance, now part of Genworth.
Terrye received a B.B.A. degree in Accounting from the College of William & Mary and is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive).
